由Queen’s Guide Badge頒發60週年鑽禧紀念說起

童軍友

英皇喬治六世的伊利莎伯皇后(即後來的瑪莉皇太后) 於1946年同意頒發Queen’s Guide Badge予英國女童軍會的女童軍，今年剛好是60週年鑽禧紀念。香港女童軍總會於1959年頒發首枚Queen’s Guide Badge予Karen Brandt；後於1986年改稱為香港總監榮譽女童軍獎章(Chief Commissioner’s Guide Badge)。

King’s Scout Badge早於1910年由英皇愛德華七世頒令頒發予通過多項專門技能考驗的童軍，獲得獎章的首位英格蘭和蘇格蘭童軍是來自Dorset的小隊長 Victor Watkins及1st Perthshire的小隊長Archie Sinclair。英女皇伊利莎伯二世於1952年繼位，允許繼續頒發證書；其後於1966年(香港於1971年)，Queen’s Scout Badge 名稱改為Queen’s Scout Award(榮譽童軍獎章)。香港再於1997年改稱為Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Scout Award。

美國童軍會Eagle Scout Award的地位等同King’s Scout Badge/Award，同樣是童軍成員的最高進度獎章。

美國童軍會於1911年成立，在翌年9月2日的勞動日頒授首個Eagle Scout Award予Arthur Rose Eldred。時至今日，美國童軍會已經頒發超過1百50萬個獎章。

美國童軍會的The National Eagle Scout Association (NESA)於1972年5月19日成立，目的在鼓勵Eagle Scout發揮他們的能力和影響力去培養年青的一輩成為傑出的領袖人才。

NESA前身是於1925年成立的the Knights of Dunamis。當年有10位Eagle Scout鑑於美國童軍會成立多年後，缺乏一套計劃去挽留Eagle Scout，引致大量資深童軍和領袖流失，於是倡議成立一個以保留Eagle Scout和推動Eagle Scouting為目標的組織；至於後來如何得以成為NESA，網頁http://www.nesa.org內有詳細介紹。

NESA為表揚已獲得獎章超過25年的Eagle Scout在商界、專業和社區服務方面有超卓的表現，特別設立和頒發Distinguished Eagle Scout Award；另外亦對具備特定資格(例如：能夠協助團中大部份童軍取得進度獎章)的領袖(毋須是Eagle Scout)頒發NESA Scoutmaster Award of Merit。
